Test your knowledge of children's literature with trivia questions courtesy of local children's book authors. Hear them read from their latest works. Bring your inner kid (or your real kid) for an hour of all things kid lit!

Local authors Catherine Alene, Debby Dodds, Emily Whitman, Barbara Kerley, and Cat Winters will read from their latest books for kids and teens. Test your knowledge of children's and young adult literature with trivia questions. Open to kids, teens, and adults!

Debby Dodds is the author of the novel AMISH GUYS DON’T CALL which was named one of Powell’s Best of YA for 2017 and an Amazon Top 100. She has stories in many NY Times best-selling anthologies and both online and print magazines and won Portland’s Wizard World 2017 Fiction Contest. As an actress, she wrote and performed in stage shows at both Disneyland and Disney World. She performed with Jerry Seinfeld, Felicia Day, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Cookie Monster, and Michael Jackson, and was known for her great screaming abilities in cheesy horror films. Cat Winters is an award-winning, critically acclaimed author of fiction that blends history with the supernatural. Her young adult works include IN THE SHADOW OF BLACKBIRDS, THE CURE FOR DREAMING, THE STEEP AND THORNY WAY, ODD & TRUE, and a forthcoming novel about Edgar Allan Poe's teen years, THE RAVEN'S TALE (available 4/16/19). She is also the author of two adult novels, THE UNINVITED and YESTERNIGHT. Winters has been named a Morris Award finalist, a Bram Stoker Award nominee, and an Oregon Spirit Book Award winner, and her books have appeared on numerous state and "best of" lists. Catherine Alene is the author of the contemporary young adult poetry novel, THE SKY BETWEEN YOU AND ME. This book was named as one of the "Best Children's Books to Read and Share" by the Washington Post and was a Junior Library Guild Selection. Like the protagonist in THE SKY BETWEEN YOU AND ME, Catherine battled anorexia nervosa. Now in recovery she regularly serves as a recovery speaker, talking to college students and professional groups about the experience of living with and overcoming the disease. Emily Whitman is the author of THE TURNING, a magical middle-grade novel about a selkie boy’s quest.
